“Once you’ve had rice tucked in by a blanket of creamy scramble egg, topped with prawns, a soy mix and shallots you will wonder why you’ve only ever eaten egg any other way. This dish is exactly what it says it is, with emphasis on “a lot of shallots”. I’m very much a toppings and sauce kind of gal, so I love being able to get the best of both worlds in every bite. This meal makes for the perfect brunch, lunch and/or dinner, Hong Kong-style. Kowloon Cafe’s retro decor, fluorescent lighting and round tables gives me a feeling of nostalgia about a place that I’ve never been to. It’s like I’m about to have a hearty meal and intense mahjong session with my mates at my local cha chaan teng ("tea restaurant"). It’s nice to have a taste and feel of authentic Hong Kong cuisine and dining in the heart of Sydney’s Chinatown.”
